Emily Coenegrachts, Chief Commercial Officer of Keolis, looks back proudly. ‘We transported almost 40,000 passengers with about 1,000 buses in 2024, taking 25,000 cars out of service. That is a huge impact, on top of the pressure we are taking away from our passengers.’
Not only visitors are starting to discover the convenience of group transport, but festival and concert organisers are also actively looking for mobility solutions. ‘Last year, Event-Shuttle provided transport for 140 days of events, a 40% increase in activities compared to 2023. This is partly due to the cooperation with be•at, operator of the Sportpaleis and the Lotto Arena.'
‘At be•at, we strongly believe in the power of renewable transport: by foot, by bike, then public transport and private transport. This order was deliberately chosen, as it reflects the priority we attach to sustainable mobility. The cooperation with Event-Shuttle and Keolis fits in perfectly with this. By removing thousands of cars from traffic, we not only offer our visitors a smooth and stress-free journey, but also actively contribute to a more sustainable future,’ says Jan Van Esbroeck, managing director at be•at.
Since the start of our cooperation with be•at in September 2023, 13,000 event visitors booked a bus to Antwerp from various pick-up points in Belgium. Clouseau40 is the most successful concert series since the cooperation. For example, more than 2,000 visitors already booked a transport ticket with the Event-Shuttle and around 1,500 cars are taken out of traffic.
‘You arrive at the concert relaxed’
One of the passengers is Elke Willems (41) from Lebbeke. She was the 100,001st passenger to book a transport ticket to Clouseau40 at the Sportpaleis. Last summer, she took the Event-Shuttle to P!nk in the Koning Boudewijnstadion for the first time. She also regularly books transport for her mother to Antwerp. ‘I got to know the concept through the Sportpaleis‘ mobility email,’ Elke says. ‘It's very nice to take the bus. You always arrive at the concert relaxed and don't suffer from traffic jam stress at all. Beforehand, you never know what the weather will be like and what it will be like on the track. With the bus, you are completely unburdened.’
Elke always opts for the easiest and smoothest option. ‘If I do take the car, I drive to the Park & Ride on the Left Bank and take the tram there. But when I go with my sister and mom, I find the return trip after the concert too hectic and crowded. By bus, you're always at ease and it's calm. You are back near home in no time.’
Elke was honoured and received a cheque with one year of free travels with Event-Shuttle.
