The first 100% electric vehicles operated by Keolis in Belgium are in use in Ghent. These electric buses, known as a 'Wandelbus' drive through the car-free area of Ghent's city centre.
The buses are free of charge, and are intended to make it easier for people who have reduced mobility to move around town. Three electric buses each carrying up to 8 people run on a fixed route in the city centre from Monday to Saturday and on those Sundays when the shops are open. A bus runs on the route every 15 to 20 minutes. In order to get on or off, all people have to do is let the driver know. The driver will stop in a safe place to let you on or off.
